Held in Conjunction with the Riverside All School Reunion Monday September 9, 2024 - Saturday September 14, 2024

The purpose of the Riverside Community School District Hall of Fame is to honor graduates, employees, teams, individuals and friends of the Riverside Community School District for their accomplishments at and/or to the service of the Riverside Community School District, and also to inspire our students to become the best that they can be.

It is not just for Riverside Community School District but any accomplishments during the days of Macedonia, Carson and Oakland are considered for the Riverside Community School District Hall of Fame. Applications are received each year and the selection is made by the Riverside Board of Education.

Induction Ceremony: It will be held on Thursday September 12 , 2024 at 2:30 PM in the Gym at the Middle/High School at 18997 Hwy 59, Oakland, IA

Parade: Will be held on Friday September 15, 2023  at 2:00 PM-Inductees can choose to ride in a vehicle in the line-up.  This year the Parade is in Macedonia, IA

Football Game: Will be held on Friday September 13, 2024  at 7:00 PM-Inductees will be introduced in front of the grandstands at 6:30 PM.  All inductees Family and Friends are admitted free to the game.

Riverside Hall of Fame Class of 2024

Keith and Joyce McClain - Graduates/Friends - Both Carson-Macedonia grads and very active in numerous activities in high school.  They have both been life-long members of the Carson and Macedonia communities.  They are huge supporters of the Riverside CSD, attending hundreds of events over the years.  They are active members of the Carson Methodist Church.  They are extremely active in the Carson Community, especially the Dreamland Theater and the Carson Business Club.  

Joanie Scott -  Employee - Joanie graduated from Carson High School in 1948.  She attended and studied elementary education at Simpson College from the Fall of 1948 until 1951.  Later she studied art education and graduated from Bellevue University. She married Richard Scott in 1954 and became a farm wife, moving to a farm near Macedonia.  In 1988, when their daughter, Elizabeth, went to Kindergarten, Joanie took an elementary teaching position at Carson-Macedonia Community School.  She continued teaching at Carson-Macedonia and Riverside until she retired.  Joanie served on the Carson-Macedonia School Board and was board president in 1973.  Joanie was one of the original organizers of the Grist Mill Fine ARts Council in Macedonia and helped found the Grist Mill Theater.  

McCready Family - Distinguished Graduates - The McCready family has been in the Riverside Communities since 1899 when Charles McCready started Macedonia Implement Company in Macedonia.  After a file in 1909, the Implement rebuilt, remaining in downtown Macedonia, what is presently the Grist Mill Theater.  In 1979 they moved to their present location East of Macedonia.  In 2006, the McCready Family/Macedonia Implement merged with the Anthen family of Hamburg, Iowa, the business became A&M Green Power and now known as AgriVision Equipment.  Currently they have 17 locations in two states.  This year (2024) the McCready Family/Macedonia Implement will be celebrating 125 years in John Deere business in August. 

 There have been five generations of the McCready family that have graduated from one of the Riverside School entities and have worked or currently working at the implement company.  Many other school graduates have worked at their business as on-the-job training or in full time positions serving Southwest Iowa, as well as providing employment for people in our communities for several decades.  They currently hold field days for students learning about agriculture and farming.  

Dr. Frederick Sick  - Individual/Distinguished Graduate - Fred went to Carson and Carson-Macedonia Schools ,and was active in 4-H, FFA, Concert Band, Dance Band, Pep Band. Student Council. and Junior Class President.  He graduated from C-M class of 1961.  He attended Iowa State University with a degree in Animal Science.  He married his high school sweetheart Geralyn Breneman in 1965.  He then was employed by Wison Certified Meats as a QC food chemist.  He then joined the Army as a Food Inspector stationed at Fort Gordon, Augusta, GA and was then sent to Viet Nam as a Medical Lab technician and was asked to set up the food chemistry and food safety lab at the 9th Med Lab in Saigon which was a reference lab for all the services in Viet Nam.  He did rabies diagnosis, leptospirosis research and did research on the disease causing deaths of the military dogs in country.  He was honorably discharged in 1969.  His experience there led to his enrollment into the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University.  He worked as a student in the veterinary diagnostic lab at Iowa State University conducting rabies testing for the state of Iowa for  4 years as well as working at the lab on other projects.  After graduation from veterinary school, he joined Central Veterinary Clinic in Sioux Center, IA where he worked for 23 years, then joining Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica as site veterinarian for 17 years.  He is active in Chamber Ag committee,  active in Iowa State University Extension  and Outreach on the county, area and state committees including being President of the Iowa Association of County Extension and active in Iowa Association of Veterinary and served a state President of the IVMA.  After retirement he teaches labs at Dordt University in Ag Safety to the animal science students.  He and his wife Geralyn sponsor and mentor pre veterinary students at Dordt University in Sioux Center and Northwestern College in Orange City.  They have monitored students interested in veterinary medicine since 1974.
