Riverside Elementary Students and Families,
Today’s information will cover breakfast and lunch procedures. Buildings will open at 7:45 to students, this goes for breakfast and non-breakfast students.
Breakfast Procedure
After entering the building, all students will hang their belongings on assigned hooks or in their assigned lockers and head to their classroom.
All students should wash their hands or use hand sanitizer after entering their classroom.
Students in kindergarten through 5th grade, who eat breakfast, can then walk to the lunchroom to get breakfast and then return to their classroom to eat.
Preschool students, who eat breakfast, will wait for a staff member to take them to the lunchroom and they will eat in the lunchroom.
Non-breakfast eaters will remain in the classroom.
When students are done eating, they should dispose of breakfast items (trays, utensils, etc.) in designated areas in or outside of their classroom.
Areas where students ate will be sanitized accordingly.
Students who ate breakfast should then wash their hands or use hand sanitizer once again.
Lunch Procedures
All students should wash their hands or use hand sanitizer prior to lunch.
Preschool students will go with a staff member/teacher to the lunchroom where they will eat lunch spaced out at the lunch tables.
Kindergarten through 5th grade students will walk down to the lunchroom to get their lunch and then return to their classrooms to eat.
Cold lunches are still allowed, we just ask that items packed are easy for students to open.
When students are done eating, they should dispose of lunch items (trays, utensils, etc.) in designated areas in or outside of their classroom.
Areas where the students ate will be sanitized accordingly.
All students should wash their hands or use hand sanitizer after eating.
I also wanted to clarify some questions about departure times from yesterday’s email. The first sets of buses will leave each building around 3:25. Students being picked up or who walk home (CES students only) will be dismissed after th first buses leave and the second set of buses will leave the buildings around 3:45.
If you have questions or need clarification on what the breakfast/lunch procedures are, do not hesitate to call either school or send an email to myself, jcrum@riverside.k12.ia.us or to Dr. Mitchell at tmitchell@riverside.k12.ia.us. Please remember, communication, patience and adaptability will be important as we start the 2020-21 school year.
